Covid-19 – What we’re doing

We’ve made a number of changes to minimise the risk to guests and our team. Here’s everything you need to know.

Please take a look at our video, which explains the steps we’re taking and what we need from you.

Cancellation policy

We now have a special Covid 19 cancellation policy. An initial £50 deposit is required, that can be transferred to another date, if required (but is non-refundable). Your balance is payable in full 30 days before arrival.

For cancellation within 30 days of your stay for those affected by Covid 19 or unfortunate circumstances – we are here to help and discuss this with you and aim to find alternative dates to transfer your holiday to. We can be flexible…

New minimum stay

Minimum stay is 7 nights – changeover day Thursday, Friday or Saturday, subject to availability. We will try to accommodate short breaks on request. Please get in touch here

Things you need to know

Due to the current situation things need to be a little different when you stay with us and we want to thank you in advance for your patience. We need to ask you to do some things a little differently – stripping the beds for example, and also checking in later, and out earlier so that we can make sure each cottage is thoroughly cleaned.

If you want to see our cleaning checklist just ask and we’d be happy to share it with you.

Your key will be in the key safe at your cottage when you arrive so there’s no need for contact with anyone to get your stay underway. There are no shared areas here at Thrush Nest. Each cottage has its own entrance and parking space.

You’re free to use the paddock (on the left as you come down the drive, in front of the farmhouse) for walking your dog or playing games. Please pick up after your dog and abide by Government guidelines on social distancing from other guests.

If you need anything while you’re here, just call Claire on 07790 596888 or James on 07494 508544. We’re currently living with Claire’s parents at their farm nearby (they are elderly and needed to isolate, so we decided it was easier to that together). We’re just 10 minutes away if you need anything urgently.

If you develop symptoms before you are due to stay Thrush Nest please don’t come to the cottage (we’re not in Durham!) Please stay at home and let us know.

We hope these small adjustments won’t affect your enjoyment and that you can kick back, relax, and have a wonderful stay with us at Thrust Nest.

Help us to help you

  • If you develop symptoms of Covid-19 during your stay, please let us know. According to Government rules you will need to return home to self-isolate
  • At the end of your stay, please strip the beds and put the bedding, towels and tea towels/hand towel from the kitchen into the laundry bag that’s in the wardrobe in the main bedroom. This minimises the risks to our housekeeping team. All of our linen and towels are cleaned at the laundrette at the maximum temperature allowed to ensure the best standards of hygiene. This also helps a local business
  • Every piece of crockery and cutlery, all mugs, glasses, pans and utensils will be washed before you arrive. This might mean the dishwasher is still running when you check in to the cottage. If it is, we’re sorry we didn’t get chance to put everything away for you, but you’ll be certain that everything has been cleaned (even if we’ve run the dishwasher more than one to achieve that!) If you want to put the dishwasher on before you leave that would be fab, but don’t feel obliged
  • We’ve left you cleaning supplies in the accommodation. Feel free to wipe things down during your stay if you wish
  • We’ve also provided hand sanitiser and extra handwash (under the sink) so that you can clean your hands as often as you need to while you stay
  • Finally, enjoy your stay! We hope you get to explore our beautiful area. There are plenty of places you can go for a socially-distant walk and a whole host of other things to do. We’ve added some more suggestions to our website, or if you want recommendations do just ask, as we’ve had to remove the usual basket of leaflets as it’s just too much to clean.
