We’re Claire & James

We were delighted to have the chance to buy Thrush Nest Farm and Cottages from the previous owners, who were the second generation of their family to own the properties. Dave and Sue still live next door and are a brilliant help when it comes to learning how to run a holiday cottage business!

Claire is a local girl and can see her parents’ farm from the upstairs window of the farmhouse. James is a city boy but gradually settling into country life. We really wanted to make our cottages dog-friendly as we know how difficult it can be to find the perfect place to stay with your pooch. Claire has had dogs for most of her life so is excited to get a new labrador puppy in May 2018 to add to the two cats they already own.

In 2017 we completely refurbished Thrush Nest Cottages, literally going back to bare brick and fitting new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and adding brand new furniture. We want people to feel right at home and are working on plans for things like a secret garden – watch this space!

Families welcome!

We’re perfectly-placed for adventures in the North Yorks Moors or on the east coast. Waterfall walks and sandy beaches are all within a reasonable drive, so don’t forget to pack your wellies!

Cherishing the history

Here are the three generations of people who have owned the holiday cottages. Dave and Sue on the left, current owners Claire and James in the middle, and Dave’s mum Heather on the right.
